KZN pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

A man died when he was knocked down by a vehicle in an apparent hit-and-run in Pietermaritzburg, paramedics said.

Pietermaritzburg - A man believed to be in his mid-30s died when he was knocked down by a vehicle in an apparent hit-and-run on the Edendale Main Road, Pietermaritzburg, on Saturday night, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying on the road, spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said on Sunday.

“Upon assessment by paramedics it was found that he sustained multiple injuries. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for the man. He was declared dead. The vehicle was not found on [the] scene.”

The cause of the accident was unknown and authorities were investigating, Bodasing said.
