Panic: Six killed as Fulani herdsmen strike Benue again
– Fulani herdsmen have attacked Tarkaa Local Government Council, in Benue state
– Six people were killed including an APC youth leader for the ward
– The chairman of the council narrowly escaped being killed in the attack
Mrs Phoebe Akoom, the Chairman of Tarkaa Local Government Council of Benue state, came in close shave with death on Saturday, March 12, following an attack by Fulani herdsmen.
The herdsmen who were numbered over 50, were armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly killed six people.
Sources reveal that the Tarkaa council boss was on her way to Tse-Damkor, Mbaayo District within Tarka Council Area when the incident occurred.
An All Progressives Congress (APC) ward youth leader, whose name could not yet be ascertained was also killed in the attack.

Breaking Times reports that Mrs Akoom, who is the wife of the late immediate younger brother of the Senator Representing Benue North-West, George Akume, narrowly escaped unharmed from the attack as she was whisked away by security agents.
She disclosed that two corpses of victims of the attack had been recovered while a search team had gone to recover the other dead bodies.
The attack comes a day after the convoy of former Senate President, Senator David Mark was also attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Agatu Local Government Area of the state.
Senator Mark was attacked when he visited certain areas which were previously attacked by the herders.
The Benue state commissioner of police, Dibal Yakadi, confirmed the report but said that he was still waiting for more details.
Yakadi told newsmen thatHe he had deployed more policemen to contain the situation while he called on the communities to maintain decorum.
