Nigeria striker Asisat Oshoala got off to a flying start at her new club Arsenal on Wednesday, March 23.
Oshoala found the back of the net as the Arsenal ladies started their Women’s Super League campaign with a convincing 3-1 win against newly-promoted Reading.
Oshoala scored in the 46th minutes of her Arsenal debut, after Dominique Janssen had given them an interval lead.
The 21-year-old striker raced into the box, rounded the keeper, before slotting into an empty net for the Gunners’ second of the game.

Reading debutant Jade Boho-Sayo however pulled one back but Danielle Carter’s header clinched victory for Arsenal.

Speaking after the game, Oshoala said: “I had fun tonight. It was a very good start for me as an individual, getting to know my players, getting to know a new role.
“I think it was a very good thing for me to grow into the game gradually.
“I promise to give my best to the team. I want Arsenal to win a trophy, win every competition, win every game we play in this season.
“I just have to give it my best in the training sessions and in every game give 100% this is a very competitive team.

“You have to give your best every time, because we have a lot of good players.
“Three points in the first game of the season is very important for us and very difficult as well, because it’s a home game against a new team and you don’t know the way they are going to play.
“It was a very good win for us.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian born Eniola Aluko, the younger sister of Super Eagles’ star, Sone Aluko, scored a hat trick to help Chelsea defeat Bristol City 7 – 1 win on Sunday March 13.
The 21-year-old Aluko who opted to play for England combined with compatriot Fran Kirby in the attack, with the duo getting five goals in total and Aluko getting a hat trick.
