Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to president Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, has threatened to file a lawsuit against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for accusing him of illegally trading in foreign exchange.
Mr. Shehu, through his lawyers, Cherish Solicitors, wrote to the national PDP chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, notifying that the party has three days to retract the accusing publication and issue an appology of the receipt of the letter.

“We shall be left with no option than to have recourse to our client’s rights under the law,” Mr. Shehu’s lawyer said.
Earlier the PDP, through its twitter handle @PDPNigeria, had accused Mr Shehu of buying $800.000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at official rate, and selling it off the same day at black market rate.
The party also alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari, his aides and wife are beneficiaries of dollar allocations. The First Lady in her turn promised that further baseless claims aimed at detraction will be met with a strong legal prosecution.
