See how Nigerians publicly humiliated former minister, Orubebe
Nigerians on March 31 remembered the event that played out at the venue of the announcement of the 2015 presidential election results.
As many Nigerians anxiously await the full results of the presidential and National Assembly elections, some officials of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, led by a former minister, Godsday Orubebe, attempted to disrupted the results collation exercise in Abuja.
The former minister accused the then chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, of being bias.
To many political analyst, the move was the last straw that broke the camel’s neck as Orubebe stood up amidst respected professors, election observers and many other highly placed people and attempted to disrupt the process.
Orubebe’s outburst, however, could not stop the ousting of the PDP’s sole candidate and then incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Jega knowing fully well how sensitive the country was at that particular time kept mute and allowed Orubebe to fabricate all sort of allegations against him though he was later commended by Nigerians for his temperamental control and maturity.
Many Nigerians took to their micro blogging site (Twitter) to remind the former minister of his failed attempt to plunged the country into a chaos that would have cost the lives of several innocent Nigerians considering previous records of post election violence in the country. Orubebe was later led away from the podium before announcement of results continued.
