Messi has scored an incredible 499 career goals for Argentina and Barcelona at just 28-years of age with an impressive 21 of those coming against Barcelona’s biggest rivals.
Speaking to Goal ahead of the clash at the Camp Nou, Messi has admitted that one more against Los Blancos and a subsequent victory would make for a perfect day.
He said: “It would be a nice moment to reach that figure against Real Madrid. It would be nice to win to stretch our advantage.”
Messi is the all-time top scorer in the history of the fixture, leading names like Alfredo di Stefano, Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He has also won five FIFA Ballon D’or titles.
Barcelona are 10 points clear of Real Madrid, nine ahead of Atletico Madrid in the race for the title and are on a 39-game unbeaten run coming into this fixture.
