If you’re Nigerian then you’ve probably spent at least ten minutes complaining about Nigeria and other Nigerians today.

Abdulrazaq Eneye is proud of his country because of the justice that inhabits its people.

“Nigeria, inspite of her negative publicity is still that place where justice is not only for the super rich but also for the common man on the streets, its still that place where everyone sleeps with the hope and belief that tomorrow will be a better day and lastly it is the place inhabited by the most optimistic people in the world. Verify that!”

Bukola Idowu cited Nigeria’s beautiful and varied landscapes, from lush forests to plains teeming with wildlife, as why we should love our land.

“I am a proud Nigerian and I take pride in the people, land and weather. Have you seen our beautiful landscapes from the north to south, east to west, have you seen the breathtaking sunrise or sunset from the beach the bustop or my backyard, have you walked through or gone hunting in our forests, even our goats and chickens are smart and they do crazy stuff (no jokes).”

“We are strong, optimistic, resilient and no matter what happens we continue to stay strong and enjoy life.”

Oluwayesi Daniel said our country’s humour and the brilliant jokes of its people is what makes Nigeria so great.

“In my own opinion, despite the hardship most might have faced, there are so many success stories enough to give hope. If that isn’t enough, there is never a dull moment with a Nigerian. We are natural comedians. Ever heard a Nigerian joke before!?”

There were dissenting voices though, and Nanjul J. Dakat said there is not too much to be proud about.

“To be honest, I get less ‘proud’ of my Nigerian heritage with the passing of each day. As humans we all feel a measure of responsibility and claim to that which we own or are identified as.”

“There are worse things than being Nigerian. At least I am not a refugee in some land ravaged by war and famine.”

What do you think?  What is is that makes you most proud to be a Nigerian?
