Jesinta Campbell Doesn't Think White People Should Determine What's Racist

“I don’t think a white person can determine what’s racist and what’s not.”
While appearing on Today, Jesinta Campbell commented on the current debate about whether students should be taught if Captain Cook invaded or settled Australia.

During the discussion, the 24-year-old said she doesn't think white people should decide what's racist.
"I don't think a white person can determine what's racist and what's not. It's not our experience. Our experience is very different to those that are Indigenous."

Campbell added that as a white woman, she doesn't have a solid opinion for either argument because it's not her experience.
"As a white person it's very easy for me to sit here and say, 'the word invasion doesn't bother me or it does bother me,' but I wasn't the original person here on this land in Australia."
