The Bishop of Niger West (Anglican Communion) in Anambra state, Rt Reverend Johnson Ekwe, has explained why Nigerians should stop attacking Ibe Kachichukwu, the minister of state of petroleum resources and the managing director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Vanguard reports that the Bishop expressed his opinion on Thursday, March 31, while briefing journalists after dedicating a new church building donated to the Anglican Church of Umuatuolu-Umueri Community of Anambra East by some illustrious sons of the community.
According to Ekwe, it is wrong to ask Kachikwu to resign over lapses in the supply of fuel.
He noted that President Muhammadu Buhari should be held responsible because he is the substantive minister of petroleum who gives instructions to Kachichukwu.

The Bishop raised the alarm over the activities of Fulani herdsmen who rape women, rob and destroy farm lands. He recalled a recent incident that happened at Awgu local government area of Enugu state where the herdsmen raped and killed two women, destroyed farm lands.
“The whole thing borders on national security. Security of Nigerians. The country is becoming volatile. What we are talking about here is national and international security as it’s relates to cattle herdsmen. The question is, who has armed them with sophisticated weapons as AK47.
“Some days ago they raped and killed two people in Awgu in Enugu state and when the people talked; they invited the police from Zone 9, Umuahia to protect them,” he said.
The Bishop added ironically that when the policemen came they arrested 76 farmers from Awgu community and let herdsmen go scot free.

Speaking about controversial religious bill, the Bishop took a swipe at Governor Nasir El-Rufai for discriminatory policies against Christians in Kaduna state and urged the federal government to call him to order.
Ekwe described the law banning Christians from preaching or spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the state as obnoxious and sentimental. He stressed that the Church is averse to religious bigotry.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna Archdiocese, Most Reverend Dr Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, raised his voice against introducing the religious bill.
The Archbishop advised El-Rufai to regulate religious activities according to existing laws instead of establishing another law that will cause chaos in Kaduna state.
