Ramanan, face of weather forecasting, takes final bow

His matter-of-fact style of making announcements, rain or shine, made him a celebrity and even spawned many a meme. But S R Ramanan, who retired on Thursday as director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre, after 36 years in service, is neither thrilled nor bitter.
