Scores of passengers were left stranded at the general aviation terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on April 20, Wednesday.
The Aviation Union stopped the operations of one of Nigeria’s biggest indigenous airline, Arik Air Nigeria’s carrier, Arik Air over what a large debt of N12.5billion to Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
The union closed down the airline’s operations on Wednesday after a yearlong talks failed.

However, Arik Air has confirmed the development in a press statement issued by its management.
It said the action by the workers’ union is linked with the long-standing and unsubstantiated claim by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria of high indebtedness to the agency.
According to the airline, it is not the first time that workers of the union will be taking laws into their hands by disrupting its operations.
Some angry passengers revolted and took a few tweets to get the airline’s name trending on Twitter:
Why do I need Arik Air when I can do it the Benin way. Edocraft all the way.
