The Wall Street Journal: Volkswagen close to deal to buy back or repair 600,000 U.S. cars

Volkswagen AG, facing a Thursday court deadline to address diesel cars it has long known violate air pollution laws, is ready to offer a U.S. buyback for some vehicles and payments for owners, according to a person familiar with the matter.
