A bus driver fell asleep on the wheels and crashed his bus

According to reports from the passengers in the bus, they were journeying from Asaba to Lagos in a ‘God Is Good Motors’ bus on April 19, and had just gotten to the Benin bypass around 12pm when the driver started struggling to regain control of his vehicle which was weaving from left to right.

The passengers noticed there were no potholes on the road, and couldn’t understand why was driving like that, he continued weaving when the passenger sitting beside him noticed the driver was actually sleeping.

The passenger immediately tried to remedy the situation by reaching for the steering and trying to steer the vehicle back onto the main road, but he wasn’t very successful as he was held back by his seat belt. At this point, the bus hit a bump by the right and tipped over.

When confronted, the very apologetic driver said he had driven from Lagos to Asaba the previous night and hadn’t had enough sleep before being asked to embark on the day’s journey.

Thankfully, no life was lost even though some of the passengers were injured.
