Welbeck has experienced a lengthy injury spell on the sidelines after a serious knee problem kept him out of action for almost a year.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals with one of them a late winner against Leicester City at the Emirates and had two assists since coming back last February, making him a key player in the Gunners’ attack. He has made just 22 appearances in the top flight this season.
Welbeck reacted to the news on Twitter: “I will be back stronger!”
