The Dan Illela faction conducted their own congress at the Birnin Kebbi race course where Alhaji Musa Dan Illela was elected as the chairman with 748 votes out of the total votes of 818 casted by delegates.
While Illela’s faction was busy conducting its election, the Ali Bagudo’s faction conducted their own at Gwadangaji where the delegates voted for Alhaji Ali Bagudo, as the chairman of the party.
Report has it that Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, the caretaker chairman sent by the national headquarters in Abuja to reconcile the warring factions and conduct the election could not attend any of the parallel election conducted.
This was due to the chaotic situation which erupted earlier at Safar Hotel in Birnin Kebbi where the caretaker chairman and other electoral team stayed.
Illela’s faction alleged that Bagudo’s faction was trying to persuade the caretaker chairman to manipulate the result sheets in favour of Alhaji Ali Bagudo.
