Arsene Wenger says he has not yet signed a contract extension with Arsenal after reports emerged earlier in this week that he would sign an extension till 2019.
Arsene Wenger
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Wenger denied a Times report on Friday that claimed he has signed a contract extension.
He said he was only interested on securing the best results possible for the club in the short term.
He said: “It is completely wrong. I don’t know where this comes from. You can treat that as an invention. It is absolutely false. They could have checked with the club and it would have been denied. I think about the next game. I have full commitment for as long as I am under contract.”

When asked whether his future at the club would be dependent on the team’s results next season, he answered: “Of course. What I focus on is to respect my contract and envisage what I will do after.
“I understand people are interested in that but it’s not important? I will see where the club stands at the end of my contract.”
Arsenal could secure their best league finish in over a decade when they face Aston Villa at the Emirates on Sunday as they currently sitting two points behind second placed Tottenham.
