It's been nearly seven years since Baby Einstein offered parents a refund for the purchase of their baby DVD's, acknowledging that their videos for infants and toddlers were not educational, as claimed. Since then, the market for infant media has not slowed down. Instead, it has simply shifted to the world of mobile apps. App stores include a category for educational toddler games and parenting websites review which infant apps are best.
And yet, the verdict is out as the benefit infants gain when engaging in the use of such apps. In fact, the evidence points in the other direction. Infants under the age of 2 years do not learn as well from media as they do from a human being.
