Usman Abdu, a 17-year-old boy has killed himself over the refusal of a 12-year-old girl to marry him.

According to ThisDay, the sad incident occurred on Friday, May 13, at about 9:00 pm in Soro town, Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi state.

The deceased was said to have hung himself on a tree after the girl, his cousin, said she would not marry him.

DSP Haruna Mohammed, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi state command, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi at the weekend.

Police detectives from Soro division led by the DPO visited the scene of the incident. The victim was rushed to Soro hospital  where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.

Mohammed stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the victim hanged himself when his cousin, who lives at the same address, rejected his marriage proposal, adding that the corpse has been to his relative for burial.

A young Ghanaian boy over a month ago also decided to end his life after love didn’t work for him anymore.

The deceased said he was tired of not being able to meet the needs of his girlfriend, and that he was ending his life so that she’d be free to have another boyfriend and not be disturbing him.
