Controversy! See 3rd most corrupt Nigerian accusing Jonathan (photo) – Nigerians react
Nigerians have had their fill of the endless battles between allegedly corrupt leaders and the law.
News broke recently, that former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu was making attempts to stall trial over some corrupt practices.
Orji Uzor Kalu has been labelled as the 3rd most corrupt Nigerian.
The claim was made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
At the commencement of hearing today, May 16, the defense counsel, Solomon Akoma told the court that there is an appeal before the Supreme Court.
Akoma said the Supreme Court is yet to fix a date for hearing the appeal, the prosecuting counsel said it was an attempt by the defense to stall trial.
In reaction to this Nigerians took to social media to vent their anger.
Martin Igbojianya Alicho labelled Orji Uzor Kalu as the third most corrupt individual next to Obasanjo and Babangida. Alicho said he wishes to live to see these individuals face justice.
Salaudeen Toyin reacted to Kalu’s claims that the EFCC prosecution is a witch hunt by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. “Did OBJ ask you to loots Abia treasury?” Salaudeen asked. Adding: “I which you submit yourself to court so that you can clear your name.”
Ochayi Daniel was of the opinion that Uzor Kalu must pay the price of his corruption, while Prince Adetayo Okikiola Adebomi insinuated that Kalu’s new found love for Buhari was a ploy to evade judgement.
“There will be no “Mercy for all the Criminals” because “they stole mercilessly from Nigeria,” said Stan Onyi Umeh.
Meanwhile, Chief Uzor Kalu has said that immediate past president of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan should be tried according to the law if he had committed any offence, adding that it is only in Nigeria where people claim to be above the law.
He said: “If fingers are pointing at Jonathan, nobody is above the law. It is just in Nigeria that presidents are made to look as if they are above the law.”
Kalu, while speaking in an interview with Daily Sun on Sunday, maintained that nobody should be seen as a sacred cow in the battle against graft.

“It is the right thing to do because the society should be strengthened by the rule of law.”
