Seven serious problems many Nigerians suffer from but pretend they do not have
– President Muhammadu Buhari is currently one of the most criticised political leaders
– A good number of Nigerians have some serious problems they blame on others
– It is a misconception for people to believe all the challenges they face in their daily lives are caused by those who govern them
– Nigerians need to check the way they behave towards other individuals despite belonging to the two major religions of Christianity and Islam
What is fundamentally wrong with some people in Nigeria? Upon meeting them for the first time, someone feels at home that he is secured. However, after a while they come up with distasteful character.
One of the things many Nigerians are very good at is ‘pretense.’ Some Nigerians appear initially as angels when they meet new people. Since the leopard can not change its skin, they bring out their real self upon being provoked on something irrelavant.
1. Blaming the government for everything
Nigerians are one of the set of people who are very good at putting at the doorstep of the government, all the problems the suffer from, even if they are the ones directly responsible for those problems.
For instance, a man who smokes out his life and comes out later with lung cancer will still say he had to smoke because the government of the day was always disappointing him regarding his expectations.
In addition, a man was caught a few weeks ago on Eko bridge side in Lagos Island area of Lagos state, while trying to steal some of the iron railings attached to the bridge. He was endangering the lives of many people due to his act. Even if the economy of the country is not favourable to him, actions like this and others are totally uncalled for.
2. Not happy with oneself
It is still only clear to some Nigerians while they do not cherish what they have. Some Nigerians are naturally endowed with so many potentialities, yet they feel a sense of insecurity around themselves.

Despite the fact that some Nigerians are strikingly rich and comfortable with all the luxuries of life, they still have a feeling of pessimism about themselves. It should not surprise someone when you hear some Nigerians say things like, “I wish God did not create me as a Nigerian,” or “Why am I too fat?” or “I wish I am more beautiful than I am now.” There are so many other negative thoughts and comments which are common among some Nigerians.
3. Financial issues
If you want to know if a Nigerian is financially buoyant or not, ask him about his financial status, and he will come up with excuses like, he has no money on him, even if he just collected a fat salary from his company.

Approaching some Nigerians you believe have enough money on them for financial assistance, may get someone disappointed because out of 10 Nigerians who are asked for financial assistance, at least eight of them will come up with a cock and bull story regarding their lack of money.
A trip to some local communities and areas in Nigeria could turn out to be a not too palatable one. This is because, immediately someone steps into the environment, such a person will start hearing people cursing themselves.
Even in cosmopolitan areas and among some so-called educated Nigerians, cursing and abusing themselves have become a daily routine.
5. Transferred aggression
Anyone who has a personal problem or has personal challenges should try as much as possible to manage them. It does not augur well if a person vents anger on another person just because he is frustrated with life.
Some examples of while some people transfer their personal aggression towards other people, thereby leading to fight, chaos and acrimony are numerous.
Some people have personal problems in their relationship with the opposite sex. Some are aggressive because they are yet to find their would-be-spouse. Some people are yet to land the job of their dream. As a result of all these, they get provoked easily and conspicuously display their frustration.
6. Poke nosing into other people’s affairs
The environment a person is born and bred, as well as the places he has been to, affect his thinking processes. People who mix and mingle with people who are gossips, will in little or no time become proficient in gossiping.
Many Nigerians find it very difficult not to comment on whatever they see. They can not overlook anything without saying one or more words about such a thing. They are interested in other people’s affairs more than their own personal problems. They prefer to proffer solution to other people’s problems, thereby neglecting their own.
A young man narrated how a man who was his neighbour always pass remarks whenever he sees him wash his dirty clothes. He said the man was always saying, why does he love washing clothes every Saturday? He said he still does not understand why the man cannot keep quiet and mind his own business.
7. Depression
The stress and economic challenges in the country are enough to cause depression.
According to WedMD, feeling depressed can be a normal reaction to loss, life’s struggles, or an injured self-esteem. But when feelings of intense sadness — including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless — last for many days to weeks and keep you from functioning normally, your depression may be something more than sadness.
Therefore, issues like everyday struggles or an ambience of hopelessness around some Nigerians make them suffer from depression. However, these sets of Nigerians will still fail to admit they are depressed, in spite of their show of suffering and smiling status.
