The management of Nigeria Professional Football League club, Plateau United FC of Jos have sacked their coach, Zakary Baraje, following a string of poor results in the league.
The newcomers have struggled to pick up maximum points at home this season with a 1-1 draw against El-Kanemi on Sunday, May 15, being the latest setback.

In a short statement by the management of the team, Baraje, who won the Nigerian FA cup trophy with Akwa United last season, was told that the decision had to be taken for the best interest of the club.
The team’s manager Abel Thomas added that the move was made for the good of the club, considering their dwindling fortunes in the league.
The management of NPFL club, Plateau United FC have sacked their coach, Zakary Baraje, following a string of poor results in the league.

“After much consideration and consultation by the Management of the team, following a run of poor performances, the Management of the team had to take the decision for the good of the Club” he said.
The brief from management also directed Victor Wickadson, the team’s head coach, to take charge of the team with immediate effect, until further notice.
The statement added: “Our head coach, Wickadson has been given the mandate to handle the team in the interim, before Management decides on what to do.”

Plateau United have lost several points at home this season from draws against the likes of Abia Warriors, MFM FC, Sunshine Stars and El Kanemi Warriors, and were only able to pick just 2 points on the road. They are currently 14th on the log with 21 points from 17 matches.
