This incident has taken place in China. Unfortunately, it takes place in many parts of the world. A newborn baby was placed in a box and thrown into the garbage. People found it there. No one could pass by being indifferent. They all tried to do something meaningful for the poor wee. Then this young lady came alone. What she did was an amazing act of humanness and mercy.
The baby kept on crying. It was so tiny and so lonely. People tried to shade it from the sun or fetch some water for the little one. It would not be comforted. The tot was hungry and so unhappy being abandoned by his mother.
Her first day of life turned out harsher than most of us ever have. The baby was hungry and aching after the mom. Then one young woman came along. She was a young mother, too with her little babe waiting for her at home.
She took the little one in her hands, sat down right there on the ground and lifted her shirt. No shame, no consideration for what others might think or say. She started breastfeeding the hungry little human being right there on the spot where it was found. The amazing act of utter mercy and kindness one person can do for another – feed them with your own self, your milk, give them part of you!
The abandoned baby girls hushed in her arms. When the social service workers arrived, she was well fed and quite happy, too. A heart at times sees clearer than our eyes. This mom’s kindness brought tears to the eyes of all who saw what she did.
