Manchester United’s abandoned game might have caused chaos for thousands of supporters, but there is one fan who has benefited.

Moses Kamara made a 3,000-mile journey from Sierra Leone for his first taste of English football, only to break down in tears after the Bournemouth clash was cancelled amid a bomb scare.

Fans from the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust saw the 40-year-old crying and chipped in to make his trip one to remember.

Kamara was due to fly home yesterday but will be at the Theatre of Dreams for tonight’s rearranged fixture and also has his hands on an FA Cup final ticket.

Not only that, fans have put him up in Salford Quays and paid the £300 for his return flight to Lungi.

‘I’ve been a fan for 25 years now,’ he said. ‘A lot of my friends back home are United fans. We have a group of us, we gather to watch matches. We watch them on the TV. We split into sections — one for Manchester and one for the other team.

‘We chat, we argue. It’s a good thing. It’s like a cinema — not a proper one — and you pay a little bit. It’s not much, it’s the equivalent of maybe one dollar, something like that.

‘I was an airport security guard and when it happened I said it is good for us,’ he added.

‘I understood it. But I was thinking, “When am I going to get this privilege again?”

‘The fans mean a lot to me. They were really caring.’

Kamara may get his happy ending, but Bournemouth fans are demanding compensation from United for the security blunder that forced the match to be abandoned.

United are refusing to cover travel expenses for Bournemouth supporters, but have offered a refund on their tickets and free entry to tonight’s game. – Daily Mail
