Confession: How Nigerian army betrays its own soldiers
Editor’s Note: The brave Nigerian army soldiers fighting Boko Haram faced numerous dangers in their job, but they do not expect to be stabbed in the back by their own leaders. A soldier has sent us the anonymous report detailing how our heroes are being robbed of their wages and shockingly maltreated by the military’s chain of command.
Nigerians are celebrating change while soldiers fighting Boko Haram are in a sorrowful mood thanks to hardship, lies, and misdeeds committed by our generals.
The federal government, which has led to the maltreatment of the troops by our generals, does not recognize the Nigerian soldiers fighting Boko Haram in the northeast.
This includes non-payment of salaries and operational allowances, making the army an avenue of corruption by our leaders, due in no small part the negligence of the defence minister Mansur Dan Ali.
It is only in Nigeria that soldiers are not recognized, we are slaves to the federal government, because it is only a slave that can be treated just as our generals are treating us.
Imagine someone who sacrifices his life for his nation without being paid his operational allowances of just N1000 per day for months on end. We were deceived, told that N20,000 will be paid into our various banks account and N10,000 will be paid cash at our various locations, but up until now nothing has been done.
For goodness sake, why are we not recognized by the federal government, as we are dying day and night?

Is that the reward for hard working soldiers, did we commit any crime for doing the military job?
Those who lost their lives their lives, their families are suffering, those that are alive fighting no salary increment nor operational allowances. Why are we working like elephants and eating like ants?
The Nigerian army finance people are using our money, buying expensive cars praying for our deaths so as to gain more money.
We are appealing to with our last hopes because our families and friends voted for change. Let the president look into our problems and put a smile on our faces because we are all of the armed forces.
Since we were promoted to the next rank, no promotion allowance from September 2015 until date nor increase of salary to the rank been promoted, why are there making us regret being soldiers, where is the integrity in the job?
Please do not expose my identity because I am not authorized to right, but it affects me that is why I am reporting. Thank you for your cooperation.
