Legal maneuvering has not only forced the upcoming court-martial of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s August trial to February 2017, but will begin under the direction of a new commander-in-chief, The Associated Press reported Tuesday. The military judge overseeing the case against Bergdahl, who walked off his combat outpost in Afghanistan and spent five years in Taliban captivity, said he was providing the extra time for resolving several legal disputes involving the defense team’s access to classified documents, the report said.
