See massive rehearsal of anti-fuel hike protest planned for tomorrow (photonews)
Following the recent fuel subsidy removal and subsequent rise in petrol price announced by the federal government last week, the activists of Joint Action Front (JAF) conducted a rehearsal for an anti-fuel hike protest in Yaba area, Lagos state.
The protest organised by a pro-labour unions is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18. The JAF was among first set of groups to step out against the policy of deregulation and increase in prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

On Friday, May 13, JAF members staged a demonstration against the government’s policy which triggered the increase of a litre of fuel from N87 to N145.

A pro-labor group has urged Nigerian workers, farmers, youth, the unemployed and other groups to use “mass actions to reject, resist and defeat” the hike in fuel price. Earlier, the residents of Ibadan in Oyo state also took to the streets to stand against fuel price hike.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have both agreed to embark on their proposed industrial action on Wednesday, May 17, despite court ruling.
