Paul Ryan doesn't want to talk about Donald Trump's treatment of women
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Tuesday refused to answer a question about reports that Donald Trump has a history of mistreating women.
"I'm not going to get into the day-to-day, up and down of this campaign," Paul said at a Hill press conference when asked if he was concerned about Trump's reported behavior around women.
Ryan told reporters that he was "focused on policies and principles and unifying our party." He also mentioned that he's having discussions with Trump about achieving party unity.
The speaker was also asked about a new NBC News poll that found 58 percent of Republicans trust Trump to lead the party while just 39 percent trust Ryan.
"I hope it's Donald Trump, he's getting the nomination," Ryan responded. "I hope it is because the person that's getting the nomination of our party is the person to lead our party."
