This meeting comes despite ongoing protest across the country over the increase in the pump price of petrol.
The federal government on Wednesday, May 11, removed fuel subsidy and increased the price of petrol from N86.50 to N145 per litre.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) threatened to go on strike if the government failed to reverse the price. They had a meeting with the federal government but failed to reach an agreement.
However, a faction of the NLC led by Joe Ajaero reached an agreement with the government and called off the strike.
Another faction led by Ayuba Wabba embarked on an indefinite strike on Wednesday, May 18, over the increase in fuel price and Nigerians are protesting in various states across the country.
The NLC defied court order which restrained it from going on with its planned strike.
