The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has today, May 18, embarked on the planned strike despite National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja order to stop it.

The nationwide protest was organised over the hike in fuel price.

The Federal government on May 11 announced the increase of the price of fuel from N86.50 to N145 per litre.

Therefore, organised labour unions threatened to commence a nationwide strike from today unless the situation is changed.

Though, one faction of the NLC led by Joe Ajaero reached a deal with the Muhammad Buhari administration and stop the strike, another faction led by Ayuba Wabba commenced an indefinite strike today, May 18.

Premium Times says that Union leaders and members have marched from Labour House in central Abuja to the federal secretariat.
