– Dignitaries from Al-Azhar University visited President Buhari at the state house

– The university awarded scholarship to displaced persons living in IDP camp in Abuja

– It also promised to supply food in anticipation of Ramadan

President Muhammadu Buhari played host to Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb who is the grand imam sheikh at Al-Azhar University from Egypt.

The train from Egypt led by El-Tayeb visited President Buhari on Wednesday, May 18 at the state house in Abuja.

Other members of the delegation include Shaykh Dr Ibrahim Saleh Alhussainy, Dr Ali Rashed Al-Naomi and Dr Ibrahim Hodhod.

NAN reports that the Egyptian university offered 10 scholarships to the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) living in Durumi Camp in Abuja.

El-Tayeb said that the scholarships should be distributed to deserving five girls and five boys who were the children of the IDPs in the camp and that they would be allowed to study medicine and engineering.

The grand imam sheikh said that in the next two weeks Al-Azhar would equip Darumi clinic with modern health facilities and medication to ensure better health service delivery in the centre.

In anticipation of the month of Ramadan, he promised that food will be delivered to help during the fasting period.

The Grand Imam noted that Islam had mandated all Muslims, especially the rich, to assist the less privileged and people who were affected by disaster such as displacement.
