Former presidential candidate kicks against fuel protest

KOWA presidential candidate in the 2015 general elections, Remi Sonaiya, has said she does not support the ongoing fuel protest.

According to her, she joined Occupy Nigeria in 2012 but is not interested in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protest this time around.

The former presidential candidate in a series of tweets on Wednesday, May 18, said the reason why she is not protesting is not because she supports President Muhammadu Buhari but things could be better handled.

The labour and the civil society gave the Federal Government till midnight on Tuesday, May 17, to reverse the increase of fuel price or face an indefinite national strike.

NLC had vowed to go ahead with its scheduled nationwide strike today, May 18 after walking out of the meeting held with the representatives of the Federal Government.

The union said they were angered by the decision of the despite existing negotiation which was at the instance of the government.
