Another neighbour on Edim Otop Street where the incident happened and who gave his name as Abasi Imoh, said Willaim’s death was mysterious as he was a happy man who enjoyed the basic things of life.
According to him, the deceased had three cars and got a lot of money from his retirement benefits two years ago.
“He was not poor because he had three cars and had built a house in his village and was generally doing well; that is why we were surprised with his action,” Imoh said.
His corpse has been taken to his hometown, Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom state.
The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos had on Tuesday, May 17, prevented a mother of four from committing suicide by jumping into the Lagoon with a 12-month old baby.
The 27 years old lady (name withheld) was restrained by two RRS riders from plunging into the Lagoon from the top of the Third Mainland Bridge.
A cab driver had drawn the attention of the RRS riders on routine patrol of the area to Mrs Adegoke, who was carrying a 12 month old baby at about past 5:00 p.m when the incidence occurred.
On interrogation at the RRS headquarters, the woman noted that she trekked from Medina Estate in Gbagada to Third Mainland.
