– President Buhari in the latest interview to BBC Hausa promised to block all channels of oil thefts

– He announced the plans to repair four refineries within two years

President Muhammadu Buhari while in London has given a short interview to BBC Hausa on May 13, Friday.

The president was speaking about Nigeria’s refineries. Buhari promised that in two years Nigerians will witness rich and better country.

He said: “When as a minister in the 70s I built Warri and Kaduna refineries together with 20 deports and several kilometers of pipe lines…Aliko Dangote is building a refinery capable of refining 650, 000 barrel a day, we are also going to repair the four refineries all these will be completed within two years.

“All the channels of oil theft will then be blocked and those who happen to be alive will witness rich and better Nigeria. After all that, if Nigerians choose to elect thieves as their leaders again…it is left to them.”

President Buhari in September appointed himself as a petroleum minister in his news cabinet of ministers.

Buhari served as the Federal Commissioner (position now called Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources since 1976 during the government of Olusegun Obasanjo.

Nigeria’s petroleum industry is believed to be the largest in Africa. Meanwhile, the country is still unable to meet fuel demand and is constantly suffering from fuel scarcity.

The country’s oil production has also been severely disrupted by the attacks of the Niger Delta militant groups.
