League Management to expel Premier League club
– Giwa FC have presented a letter saying it is uncomfortable playing at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin
– They have failed to honour three consecutive League games which is expulsion according to the rules
– The League Management Company (LMC) is unsure on the verdict to make on Giwa FC
There was absolute and total confusion in Ilorin on Wednesday evening when the match commissioner that was attached to the NPFL week 18 game between hosts, Giwa FC and Enyimba tendered a controversial letter written by Giwa FC.
Giwa Fc players
Giwa FC were banished to Ilorin by the League Management Company (LMC) after their week 12 encounter with Enugu Rangers experienced crowd violence in Jos which made the match abandoned.
The match was later rescheduled to be played in Abuja by the LMC, but Giwa FC failed to honour the match and three goals and three points were given to the Flying Antelopes.
The LMC therefore banished Giwa FC to Ilorin for them to play their next three home games at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and Akwa United were both in Ilorin to play against Giwa FC, but the Jos-based club which is one of the only two privately owned sides in Nigeria failed to show up for the two games and they were however walked over.

On Wednesday, Giwa FC were on the verge of being thrown out of the League as it is stated in the rules governing the Nigeria’s top flight that any team that misses three consecutive games without a reasonable reason will be expelled.
But there was serious confusion when the match commissioner brought out a letter from Giwa FC in which the club tendered an apology to the LMC which is the body controlling the League.
In a statement signed by the secretary of Giwa FC, Samson Adamu, the club regretted all the inconveniences caused in the League and therefore pleaded for an independent commission to be set up by the LMC so as to look into the cases of the last two games they missed with a view to allowing a replay based on the arising conditions.
Meanwhile, Enyimba have vowed not to replay their week 18 match against Giwa FC stressing that it is either the LMC give them the three points which is stated in the rules governing the League or forget about them coming back for the encounter.
“No matter what they resolve at latter, we won’t come back for this match, and it is better for the LMC to follow the rules of the game or forget it,” an Enyimba official revealed angrily in Ilorin.
It is now left for the League Management Company (LMC) to decide the fate of Giwa FC whether for their apology to be accepted or they should face expulsion.
“We are seriously confused, and this matter is giving us severe headache, but I promised that it will soon be sorted out,” an LMC official who does not want to be named said to Naij.com Sports.
