– NDLEA officers have nabbed 6 with compressed cannabis and cocaine
– A total of 62.663kg of drugs comprising 60.55kg of cannabis and 2.113kg of cocaine were seized from the accused
– The drugs were stored inside shoe sole and dried vegetable
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Thursday, June 9, discovered compressed cannabis in vegetables and cocaine inside shoe sole, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) Enugu state.
According to Daily Trust, 2 of the suspects were found in possession of substances that tested positive for cocaine while four others were caught with dried weeds of cannabis sativa.

The spokesman of the agency, Ofoyeju Mitchell, in a statement said that three of the suspects were going to China where drug trafficking was punishable by death, adding that a total of 62.663kg of drugs comprising 60.55kg of cannabis and 2.113kg of cocaine were seized from the six accused.
Adeofe Adeyemi, NDLEA Commander at the Enugu Airport, commenting on the arrest and seizure, said: “The command has arrested six suspected drug traffickers with 62.663kg of narcotic drugs. One of the suspects, Ibeh Kevin Nonso, 46 years old going to China swallowed 67 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.131kg while Izukanne Ikenna, 33 years old going to Hong Kong hid 982 grammes of cocaine inside the sole of his shoes.
The only female, 27 year old Kenechukwu Ujunwa Uchenna was arrested on her way to Dubai with 11.7kg of cannabis in dried bitter leaf vegetables”.

In another development, NDLEA officials recovered 193 wraps of cocaine inside a passenger’s socks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos last month.
According to the statement issued and signed by the agency’s spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju, the discovery was made during routine screening of passengers on an Emirates flight from Dubai. A drug smuggler was identified as Samuel Maduewesi, who attached 3.4kg of cocaine to his legs before trying to board the plane but was detained by vigilant airport workers.
