Melbourne questions plans for eight teams in AFL women's league

The AFL's plan to launch a women's league with eight clubs – and possibly up to 10 – counter to advice of female players who recommended a six-team starting point, has been questioned by Melbourne on the eve of the code-transforming announcement.



With the Demons all but guaranteed to be unveiled among the foundation fleet on Wednesday, Melbourne CEO Peter Jackson has confessed genuine reservations about a new women's competition with an initial membership bigger than eight.
