Uproar as APC blames enemies for mass sack

Some Nigerians have reacted angrily to claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the mass retrenchment in the banking and other sectors was orchestrated by certain disgruntled persons to blackmail and discredit the APC government.

APC claims the mass sack was orchestrated by enemies to frustrate Buhari’s government

Naij.com recently reported that the national auditor of the party, Chief George Moghalu in a chat with Daily Sun at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, June 9, said the enemies of the APC were behind the mass retrenchment in the banking sector.

He described the mass retrenchment by banks as pure sabotage and accused blackmailers of trying create a situation of uncertainty and unnecessary frustration of the system.

However, Moghalu’s narrative of the job crisis in the banking and other financial sector has been dismissed by some Nigerians who faulted the economic policies of the ruling party as reasons for the mass sack in banks.

The commentators also described the claims by the party that enemies were behind the mass retrenchment in banks as false.

Meanwhile, bank workers, who have been apprehensive over the retrenchment gale in sector, can now heave a sigh of relief, as Deposit Money Banks, under the aegis of Bankers Committee have agreed to halt further mass sack in the industry.

The decision was announced at the end of the 327th Bankers Committee meeting in Abuja, Thursday, June 9.
