This man lived 18 months without a heart in his body

Stan Larkin, 25, is one of a growing number of patients with heart problems who are using artificial hearts before a transplant becomes available. He survived with SynCardia’s Freedom Portable Driver, which the US Food and Drug Administration approved as a bridge to transplantation in 2014, for an incredible 18 months.
