For Courtney Thompson, whose husband, Jody, spent 20 years in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq on five tours and injured on two of them — once after being hit by an improvised explosive device and again when a rocket-propelled grenade broke his leg — the weekend away from her Dallas/Fort Worth-area home meant a relaxing, fun time to bond with others who understand and have been through similar circumstances.
