#Ramadan Daily: Are you getting ready for the most special night in mankind’s history?
– The most special night is Laylatul Qadr which comes just once in a year
– Laylatul Qadr is the Arabic form of ‘The Night of Majesty,’ or ‘The Night of Fate,’ or ‘The Night of Decree’ or even ‘The Night of Power’
– Muslims who fast in the holy moth of Ramadan try as much as possible to do all acts of worship they know in order to reap the benefits of Laylatul Qadr
In chapter 97, from its beginning to the end, Allah talks about the most special night. Actually, chapter 97 is named after Laylatul Qadr, as the chapter is called, ‘Suuratul Qadr,’ that is the chapter of Power or Fate.
The number one constitution of the Muslims, that is the Glorious Qur’an, which will intercede for its reciter on the day of judgement, was revealed in Laylatul Qadr.

The Night of Power falls in the last nine or 10 nights of Ramadan, depending if the fast will be 29 or 30 days. In addition, Muslims search for the night at the last odd nights of the last 9 or 10 days of the fasting month. That is, days 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29

In explaining about the Night of Majesty, Allah says in chapter 97, from verses 1-5:
“Indeed, We (Allah), sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you (Prophet Muhammad) know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit (Angel Jibril) descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.”
One of the reasons why Muslims should not joke with Laylatul Qadr is that if any Muslim worships Allah during that Night, it is as if he served Allah for at least 83 years and 4 months, which is really great!
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon his soul) told his wife, A’isha (may Allah be pleased with her), that whenever it is Laylatul Qadr, she should continue to say,
“Allahumma, Innaka Afuwun, Tuhibul Afwa, Fa’ afu anee,” meaning, “Allah, You are The One who forgives, forgive me,” or “Allah, You are The One, who overlooks someone’s shortcomings (sins), overlook my shortcomings (sins).”
The Prophet was also reported to have said in his Hadeeth that, anyone who rises in the Night of Majesty, with faith and expectation of reward from Allah, Allah will forgive his sins of one year.
Therefore, the annual opportunity Laylatul Qadr offers should not be wasted by all Muslims.
