Xhaka’s spot kick miss proved costly for his team as Switzerland were beaten 6-5 on penalties in St Etienne.
Jakub Blaszczykowski got his second goal of Euro 2016 after Grosicki made a darting run from the left where he set up a pass to Milik who dummies the Swiss defence for his teammate to get the first goal.
Poland dominated proceedings all through the first half as Yann Sommer in goal was kept busy through out the first 45 minutes as the scores remained 1-0.

Switzerland remarkably came back with a bang as Stoke City’s midfielder, Xherdan Shaqiri scored with a bicycle-kick to keep the score level at 1-1.
It was the Swiss team that were in control all the way as chances came begging all through the second 45 minutes but to no avail as the match went into extra time.
Both teams were looking to write their names in the history books of their respective countries as they gave it all to win the match during time added on but it went to penalties as it ended 1-1 during regulation time.
At the end, Poland were victors and they booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 for the first time since 1970 as they are set to play in the quarter-finals.
