The founding members of the EU say they want the UK to leave the bloc as soon as possible after Britain’s referendum vote to leave. The diplomats are putting pressure on Britain to set out a quick timetable for its exit from the bloc, to avoid long period of “uncertainty” and to minimize the risk of damaging the bloc even further. A joint statement from the founding nations, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg, say they want a fast decision from the UK. The remaining Union members will hold an emergency meeting next week to discuss Britain’s departure and the future of the bloc without Britain.
