Eric Olhats, the sporting advisor of Antoine Griezmann, confirmed that the striker held talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

Recall that Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has signed a new five-year contract with Atletico.

The player had been linked with a move away this transfer window as he demonstrated outstanding performance and scored 32 goals for Atletico this season.

And Olhats has confirmed talks: “There were talks with [PSG sporting director] Olivier Letang. Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing him. We listened to what they had to say because PSG are a club with an interesting project.”

He added: “We eventually opted for continuity with Atletico after those talks and weighing up the various offers. But you never know what happens in the future.”

The advisor continued: “Would it have been a wise decision to move to a club where he could potentially win more titles? Barcelona and Real Madrid don’t need anyone in attack at the moment”. 

Griezmann enjoyed a sublime Euro 2016 campaign, scoring six goals in seven appearances.

According to the deal, the contract will keep him at the Vicente Calderon until 2021.
