Texit aftermath: Refiloe quits Metro FM
After the exit (or should we say Texit) of Tbo Touch from Metro FM, news reader Refiloe Mpakanyane resigns.
|||Metro is going to be a ghost town soon.
Especially if the exodus continues at the pace it currently is.
After the exit (or should we say Texit) of Tbo Touch, news anchor Refiloe Mpakanyane has also resigned from Metro FM.
Like Touch, Mpakanyane was at pains to reiterate that there was no bad blood between her and station management.
"There are absolutely no bad vibes here,” she said. “I don't have time for that. This was really a decision about my own life, my own career and my own family."
As for what that decision on her career is, Mpakanyane is playing coy for the moment.
"I have been at the SABC for 11 years in various roles,” she said. “I went there straight after varsity and you get to a point where you realise that your own dreams and goals have changed.
"All I'll say is if you're in Hong Kong, give me a call and I'll take you out to lunch."
Mpakanye also took to Twitter to thank those who had forwarded their well wishes:
Thank you for all the well wishes. Today was my last day on Metro FM. Virgil wrote to "look with favour upon a bold beginning". #NextPlay
