In the original game, giving your Eevee a stone would determine its element type. But in Pokémon Go, it's been seemingly random.
Some users thought it might be dependent on the Eevee's move list, but that theory has been debunked.
However, one clever Redditor seems to have figured out the trick, and it's a clever nod to these three guys.
That's Rainer, Sparky, and Pyro, three trainers from the original anime who each owned their own Eeveelution.

The trick is simple: Name your Eevee after one of the trainers, and you'll get the corresponding evolution.
So depending on what you want, you should name them like this:
Sparky will get you a Jolteon
Rainer will get you a Vaporeon
Pyro will get you a Flareon
Make sure you spell everything right, as some users have found that they made typos and ended up with a random evolution!
