Turkey's military launched a coup against the elected government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish officials and the army said Friday, setting off a violent struggle between the nation's military and civilian leaders and further destabilizing the longtime U.S. ally now at war with Kurdish militants and the Islamic State.
