AmazonIf you're as reliant as I am on Google Maps to get you from place to place, but still want to abide by the no-hands policy many states have enacted on smartphones to cut down on distracted driving, you'll want to invest in a phone mount.
I've used one for years; during the summer months, the suction-cup that keeps it fastened to my dashboard heats up, and it falls due to the weight of its arm and my iPhone 6 Plus. I've tried out Vantrue's Car Cradle and I don't think I'm going to have that problem anymore.
Instead of being short and made from dense plastic, the Car Cradle is relatively svelte, and is reinforced with two separate locking mechanisms — one that attaches the phone holder to the base, and another at the base of the arm that dictates the phone's position. One of Vantrue's claims is that through these you can move your phone 360 degrees and position it however you like, and you can. The benefit of that is finding the perfect spot to position your phone and leaving it there.
The grip that holds your phone in place seems sturdy and can accommodate any phone from 3.5 to 6 inches large. My iPhone 6 Plus is right in the pocket, and given how light the arm and grip are I don't see this one toppling over. This thought is re-enforced by the size and stickiness of the mount's base.
Although I'm the only one driving my car, I could see this being a great car mount for people who share their car. Everyone likes to adjust parts of the car, like the seats and mirrors, to what they consider the "perfect spot," this smartphone mount gives you the same flexibility. If you've been driving around with your phone in a cup holder, or, even worse, your hands, a car mount for your phone will make a world of difference, and this is a good one.
