The citizens of Edo state have been promised a reward of 200,000 jobs if they vote for Godwin Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
According to Vanguard, Obaseki made this known during the flag off of his campaign at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin on Saturday, July 16.
Obaseki, during the campaign, also informed that his administration would focus on job creation, entrepreneurship and industrialisation, if he gets into power.
He noted that agriculture and skills acquisition would form bulk of the job creation channels, with agriculture, especially, moving from subsistence to commercial.
While pledging that his administration would make Edo the ‘food basket’ of the nation, Obaseki stated that availability of power and entrepreneurship will become a way of life for the people of the state.
Obaseki also informed categorically that women empowerment would be paid special attention to, as some investments training specifically tailored for women would be embarked upon.
While introducing him earlier, incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomhole, informed that the APC in Edo converged in the state to present their agenda which would consolidate on what he started in the state.
The governor also harped on the importance of handing over to another competent hand who will continue with the party’s work, and encouraged citizens of the state to rededicate themselves to the aspiration of the candidate.
During the campaign, some defectors to the APC were received by Chief John Oyegun, the national chairman of the party, who also presented Obaseki to the people.
