Alfa gathered a total vote of 56,572 ahead of his opponent from the Labour Party who scored 11, 908 votes.

Folusho Adebanjo, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, described the rerun election as very peaceful and violence free.

In another development, prominent politician and businessman based in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje, is being tipped to take over the national chairmanship of the PDP.

Agbaje, who contested against Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state in 2015, is seen by some of the party members as one on whose shoulders the urgent need to restore the party’s lost glory should lie.
