Koffi Olomide was arrested and deported by police in Kenya on Saturday, July 23, after assaulting one of his female dancers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

This was following a live television interview on Citizen TV where the footage of the alleged assault took center stage.

Kenya’s Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, reportedly gave the order that Olomide be arrested, according to The Cable News.

The singer risks facing a year jail sentence if convicted under the penal code of the country, which states that “any person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year”, report says.

This is not the first time the Congolese star has been linked with such a behaviour. In year 2008 The Congolese musician was accused of assaulting a photojournalist from a local TV station in Kinshasa who was covering his concert.

In 2012 Olomide was arrested in August 2012 for assaulting his former music producer, Diego Lubaki, and was handed a three-month suspended prison sentence for the assault.

December the same year, the musician was accused of kicking a freelance photo-journalist, Jean Mandela, in the face during a concert in Zambia.
